I am right at home here in Nashville again surrounded by creative people!
I will be beginning my first day of outreach here with my nonprofit organization this weekend, and I am now attending early morning classes at Lifetime Fitness for Core, Pilates, Strength, Flow and Zumba—with early morning classes beginning between 5:00 and 6:00.
As a health coach, I am proud to share that I have honestly never been in better shape in my adult life (notice, I did not say entire life)—and have been experimenting with the keto diet, opting to eat more protein and less carbs and high glycemic fruits and vegetables that turn to sugar for the most stamina and best health. I am no longer at all concerned about my age, as the instructors and attendees of my classes have inspired me to be the best I can be at any age. I no longer want to remain just thin but be both strong, flexible and thin–this reminds me of my years growing up twirling the baton and being a cheerleader and competing in competitions. I feel I have a long way to go to catch up with the other women in my classes but have only just begun and am not giving up.
Every day is filled with creativity, and I have never been happier in my life. I moved to Nashville at age 17 and began working on Music Row with appointments in country music even back then. I landed publishing deals and major production deals by the time I was 19…but figured when I left for NYC in the 90s and then moved out to CA that I would never be back to Nashville. Well, the city has all changed, and, surprisingly, I have total peace that it is right where I belong. The new gym is so much nicer than Equinox in NYC with hundreds of classes and only organic food and ingredients in the smoothie bar and restaurant. Fitness is my new addiction!
I worked out to myself this morning to ME , as I ran on the treadmill listening to my latest bluegrass CD in its entirety for just under 50 minutes. It definitely made me run faster!
I’m not missing NYC one bit and loving every day of life here. For the first time population in Manhattan has gone down while Nashville just keeps coming up. I have met many people who have just moved here from NYC and love it far more. So do I. After so long, it is good to be back home again.
