My sweet grandmother told me before she passed away back in 2016, “Dwayna, it just might be that a lot of people will hear your music someday.” I said, “No, Grandmother, I am an independent artist, and no one really listens to independent artists.” Then I added, “Whatever God wants is okay with me.”
See, I used to LIVE for “going viral.” There was a time I never knew how to be happy without some big record deal to bring me fame and fortune. Now, I know that true happiness really goes so much deeper, so it was good that I never got that fame I so desperately needed back in my early twenties :- ) to give me something better. Peace on the inside!
So, now, when I write from my heart and record, I love it more than ever! I will keep writing from my heart. And, let me just quote the great Billy Joel , “Love me? Love my band!” All of a sudden, when I was not even trying, I found my own “sound” thanks to some “new musicians” we booked, and I have been working with them ever since! I’m thankful, and I hope this song keeps being used to bring more peace to the world! 💙🙏💙
