Dwayna Litz’s last single, against genocide, “Everyone is Beautiful” went viral with over 1M views on YouTube. Here is her latest single, “Dump Trump” for peace on earth. She wrote the press release herself this time about the fun story of how the song was written:
A couple of months ago I was having rehearsal with Tim Crouch, an excellent musician who has been co-producing almost every song I have recorded since we began working together back in 2013, before my last full session when he said, “I have a great idea for a song.” I said, “What is it?” He said, “Dump Trump.” I said, “That is a hit idea. That is a hit hook, but I do not have time to write it.” He said, “Well, we could use A.I.” I answered, “You know me, Tim, I hate A.I., and I am adamant about never using it. It is a slap in my face as a songwriter who likes to write from my heart.” I said, “You can go ahead and do that, though, because I really do not have time and only like writing from my heart when a song just pours out every now and then.”
We had the session, and when we got finished from a hard day’s work, Tim said, “This was the best session ever.” I said, “Thank you so much, but that is what you said last time.” He explained, “It is all the musicians, how well we all work together and how your own unique sound keeps coming together.” I love getting my vocals WITH the band, not afterwards, so every take they did I sang with them, so I was so tired from singing all day but really happy from so much fun when I thanked him and added, “Well, I’m exhausted, and go ahead and do whatever you want with that Dump Trump great idea of yours. I’m too tired right now to even think about it, but it is truly a hit idea.”
Well, I am not kidding. I woke up the next morning, and after more of the crazy news about late night posts from Trump, I was getting some hot water for my tea, when the entire chorus came. I just started singing, “It’s time to dump Trump and take what’s left of our country back, up all night posting like a psychopath…” and I could barely sing it into my phone fast enough, as the whole chorus came. I called Tim and sang it for him, and he loved it. I said, “It’s meant to be after all. I love this!”
I could not stop writing. I had another session for editing and vocals that day and had to call to tell the engineer, “I may be a little late. I can’t stop writing a new song!” So, then Tim had some gigs that week and said he would get me a track to write the verses to, for an idea for the melody for the verses (as I love to co-write like that, too), but before he had time to do that, the verses came. I sang it all into my iPhone and sent it to him. He added the music and wrote out the charts. We sent the files to some of the best musicians on earth I get to say work with me, and then we added vocals with two of the best singers on earth I get to call my friends for vocals, and we have been “dumping Trump” ever since! One great engineer, too, who is just as important as anyone else!
THIS SONG WOULD NOT BE THE SAME WITHOUT ALL THE TALENTED PEOPLE WHO WORKED WITH ME ON IT. Thank you for listening, as we intend to keep standing up together for what is right in this country and our First Amendment rights. It is no longer a battle between Left and Right but wrong vs. right.
