Charleston Walking in the Light

I love Charleston and the people at Emmanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church. Last Wednesday night I gave gifts of hand-carved, wooden trivets from the Great Smoky Mountains, made by my friend, Tim Scholz, and booklets about God’s love, along with my song “Walking in the Light” in 9 gift bags for each of the families of the Christians who were shot. I got to meet the survivors of the horrific night who had to pretend they were dead or would have also been killed. I am going back to give the survivors gifts, too. I went there to encourage them, but they were the ones who encouraged me. God bless them as they keep on “walking in the light.” AMEcross

Singing in Charleston

I went to Charleston and gave my song “Walking in the Light” to the families of the Christians killed there in person, along with a gift bag of other materials to encourage them. The blessing was all mine. To my surprise, I was asked to sing at the church’s Wednesday night Bible study, in the same room of the shooting with the bullet holes still in the wall. We were all still there praising the Lord together. I love my brothers and sisters there. I will be back to sing on a Sunday morning soon. This song is for Charleston.

Great Being Back in TN

I sang and spoke about the work we do at my Christian nonprofit organization for a popular prayer breakfast last Wednesday. It was wonderful and made me glad to be back in the south again! I got to meet and hear a friend of my family who is a famous football coach, Ken Sparks, speak. (For more information on him, go here.) What a remarkable career he has had, and, if I had not known all of his accomplishments, I would have never guessed it with him so genuine and down to earth as such a great person. Also pictured is Esco Jarnigan, sheriff of Hamblen County, and also a family friend. We had a great time.
