Yesterday with Detonio (Dwayna’s Nonprofit)

Dwayna has a 501c3 that helps underprivileged kids, and she began an outreach to kids in the projects of East Nashville after meeting Detonio, when he was only five years old. After just one day there of outreach, she began the Character Counts Club with her nonprofit org., Lighting the Way Worldwide .

She took him and his brother to the library to teach them to read and gave them 5.00 each afterwards for reading, began a coat drive to get him and his brother (and 100 other kids) a coat for the winter (working with Walmart and Target) and now Detonio is almost a teen!

Ongoing updates with more details are on the Facebook “Lighting the Way Worldwide” page, but Dwayna saw him yesterday for the first time in years and took him and his mother out for a special day, and what a pleasure to stay in touch!

Dwayna hopes to help provide for his college as he gets older through her nonprofit organization.

Dwayna wrote a song for Detonio called “You’re Growin’ On Me,” which will be on her forthcoming “Gibson” release.

“Dwayna Litz Shines with ‘My Mind’s On You'”

“My Mind’s on You,” by Dwayna Litz, leaves a heartfelt country pop glow, shaped by soul, memory and love’s quiet pull. “My Mind’s on You” opens with the warmth of a porch light before dawn, the kind of song that feels handwritten in the stillness of early morning. That is exactly how it was born, written at 4 a.m. on the fourth of July, capturing a tender moment when love resurfaces before you can talk yourself out of it. Dwayna Litz blends the sincerity of classic country with the smooth glow of Chicag- style pop, creating something timeless and gently stirring.

Based in Nashville, Litz draws on a lifetime shaped by Gospel, Jazz and American songwriting. Her vocals carry the emotional honesty of someone who does not force a feeling but lets it speak. The arrangement mirrors that richness: fiddle and mandolin from Tim Crouch, Jeff Taylor’s soft piano touch, and Steve Brewster’s steady drums build an atmosphere that moves easily between pop, country and soul. Horns add just a hint of sparkle, like emotion rising at the edge of the mix.

The song reflects on how love chooses you, rather than the other way around. It sits in that vulnerable space between letting go and holding on, offering comfort to anyone who has felt the same ache.
