Dwayna Litz’s “Genre Blurring”

Dwayna Litz channels sleepless longing on her genre-blurring love anthem ‘My Mind’s On You’

Some songs arrive like a lightning bolt. And Dwayna Litz’s ‘My Mind’s On You’ is exactly that kind of lovestruck confession born in the stillness of early morning hours and shaped into a track that refuses to sit inside any single genre.

Litz’s voice carries the kind of emotional honesty that can only come from someone raised on expressive gospel storytelling. There’s tenderness, yes, but also a striking clarity as she sings about a love that refuses to fade. Rather than portraying romance as glossy or convenient, she leans into the truth no one likes to admit: sometimes the heart holds on long after the head has moved on. And in that collision between yearning and reality, she finds her richest material.
Instrumentally, ‘My Mind’s On You’ is a full buffet of glowing brass, gliding strings, acoustic twang, and a rhythm section that moves with polished ease thanks to Steve Brewster’s seasoned touch behind the kit. It’s the kind of arrangement that feels cinematic without overwhelming the sensitivity at its core. Each layer seems placed with intention, widening the emotional lens rather than cluttering it.
But beyond all the stylistic flair, the soul of this song is its vulnerability. ‘My Mind’s On You’ captures that unmistakable moment when you realise the door you thought you’d closed is still cracked open. It’s an ode to the way love lingers, choosing us long before we ever choose it back.
Dwayna Litz has crafted something nostalgic yet fresh, polished yet deeply personal. ‘My Mind’s On You’ is a reminder of the nights (and early dawns) when emotion refuses to sleep, no matter how much we wish it would.

“Dwayna Litz delivers…emotion…”

“DWAYNA LITZ DELIVERS FLAWLESS MUSICIANSHIP AND EMOTION…”

Heartfelt, powerful, and expertly pieced together, My Mind’s on You is the genre-bending new single from Nashville-based singer/songwriter and author Dwayna Litz. A superb fusion of pop, country, jazz, and rock, it’s a tune that brings all of Dwayna’s musical influences to the fore. Think Billy Joel, Michael McDonald, Ronnie Milsap, Vince Gill, Phil Collins. Featuring everything from a fiddle to horns, My Mind’s on You takes listeners on an emotional sonic rollercoaster. You feel the highs and lows along with the artist, as she examines that moment in time when one realises they haven’t quite moved on from someone and they’re still not ready to. Recorded alongside drummer Steve Brewster (Peter Cetera) and a hugely talented bunch of other musicians, Dwayna’s latest release comes alive with a sonic depth that only masters can create. Strikingly pure, evocatively rich, and utterly flawless…

Dwayna Litz with Eddie Gore

Eddie Gore was my long time friend from way back when I was 21 and the ONLY person I knew from those days, still on Music Row today. He has his own studio at the famous RCA Studios as a producer and arranger in Studio A. I am not surprised at his success, as back when he first came to town he would produce demos, and now he is producing records, been nominated for a Grammy and has recently produced a project for Eric Clapton, as Eric came to work with him in his studio on some of his new songs. Eddie has not changed a bit, and it was like going back in time, glad to catch up after all these years.
